Build daily stretches into your routine

It’s important for sonographers to maintain a healthy and frequent stretching regime. Ideally this should be done every single day. It’s a good idea to get in the habit of trying to do a few minutes of stretches every morning. But which stretches should you do? Most sonographers with work-related muscoskeletal disorders experience pain or discomfort in the neck, back, shoulders and arms. So stretches that focus on these regions is a good place to start. The document below by the Journal of the American Society of Echocardiography (JASE) has created a useful article demonstrating stretches that are beneficial to sonographers. Other strategies that can be helpful include Pilates and Yoga which all involve some degree of stretching but we recommend that you consult with a medical professional before undertaking a new exercise regimen.
